Estate Manager | Hampshire

£60K to £75,000 D.O.E + Accommodation DOE

 

We are looking for an Estate Manager (EM) to oversee the management of a country estate in Hampshire.

Working closely with the family and the family’s Private Office, the EM will be expected to take ownership of the management of the family’s estate, including, contractors, service-providers, and the household staff.

Hands-on in nature, the EM will take responsibility for the creation and maintenance of an efficient and detail orientated property, who will thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Flexing seasoned skills, he/she will assist the family with all manner of duties, act as the family’s ambassador and representative, while acknowledging and understanding that all duties must be performed flawlessly and efficiently. Candidates will display advanced communication skills, combined with proven professionalism and efficiency in representing their employers; all the while  maintaining the highest level of privacy & discretion.

Candidates must present exceptional, checkable references, and be happy to undertake a DBS and undergo a detailed background verification. Other details to consider before applying:
  • The property is ⁠used as a weekend residence.
  • Last year the Principal visited circa 50 days in a 12 month period.
  • Main building is 5 bedrooms, and there is an additional staff wing which can sleep 8.
  • Semi Formal style, the ⁠single principal has two adult kids, who sometimes visit - along with houseguests
  • ⁠This is a secondary residence and candidates will only be required to work at this property.
  • ⁠Normal working week Mon-Fri 8am -5pm. BUT when Client is on-site no days off, although ⁠days worked will be compensated with days off when client is off-site (TOIL)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing household maintenance, general condition and operations, maintaining schedules of works that have been done and are scheduled to be done,
  • Managing building management systems, to be the first point of contact when problems arise and to liaise with relevant contractors for repair and maintenance,
  • Dealing with household recruitment and conducting initial interviews,
  • Supervision and management of household staff up to 15 people,
  • Management of staff rotas and household schedules, holidays, and sick days etc,
  • Organising and supervising deliveries, suppliers, and contractors,
  • Undertaking any project management responsibility for property construction/refurbishment works if and when required,
  • Responsible for monthly and annual budgets of the Estate,
  • Check and approve all utility and contractor invoices before submission to the owner for settlement, ensuring no duplication or overpayment arises,
  • Ensuring the household is properly stocked at all times with all the necessary household items needed to maintain the standard of service expected,
  • Shopping and running errands,
  • Personal support to the family as required,
  • Ensuring all assets and the estate are being managed efficiently, and
  • Other ad hoc duties as directed.

Entry Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Household/Estate Management role for at least 3 years,
  • Excellent organisational and managerial skills, soft people skills and supportive management style,
  • Results-orientated with the ability to push in challenging situations
    Hands-on style of work,
  • Able to work autonomously and motivate the team,
  • Fluent in English while Russian would be a advantage, but not essential
  • UK-based relevant experience is a must,
  • Working hours 8-5 or 9-6 but flexibility is required , two days off per week.
