Our client is seeking to hire a traditionally styled, British trained House Manager/Butler for their beautiful, staffed Home/Estate in Cairo, Egypt.

The House Manager will be providing day-to-day support for the Principals and their family, which will include employee and contractor management. This will be a multi faceted, hands-on role, which will suit someone with a keen eye for detail and a vocational approach to the work.

Managing this private residence in Cairo, the role requires a qualified, and experienced candidate to manage all household duties, coordinate events, supervise staff, and ensure the smooth operation of the residence, including overseeing, maintaining, and streamlining the Interior Departments (Kitchen, F&B Service & Housekeeping) so as to set, promote and maintain the highest levels of service across the household.

The applicant should be British trained and a native English speaker, vocational in their outlook, service-oriented, meticulous, with a keen eye for detail, discreet, calm, extremely well-presented, professional, and come with an advanced understanding of the rules of etiquette and protocol.

Candidates must be accustomed with working in a formal environment, and show they have proven longevity in previous roles, combined with credible work experience gained in other high profile private residences or deluxe properties, and present excellent checkable references.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overall Management & Upkeep of the family's home
  • Plan, Monitor, & Supervise Housekeeping & Service Staff
  • F&B management including provisioning, liaising with F&B outlets, & inventory management.
  • Events Management.
  • Record keeping/inventories.
  • Maintaining House accounts.
  • Attending traditional Butler duties.
  • High level co-ordination skills, well organized, & with high attention to detail.
  • High leadership skills, team player, positive attitude, works well under pressure, enjoys work related tasks, outgoing, & sociable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety and hygiene practices and regulations.
  • Resolve any problems which may arise, while maintaining good relationships and demonstrating outstanding hospitality.

Roles and Responsibilities

Housekeeping Duties:

  • Maintain highest standards of cleanliness, room preparation, and presentation across the estate, ensuring guest rooms, public space, and communal areas in the premises are well presented and maintained.
  • Manage and maintain a team of highly motivated and trained staff that continually strives for excellence in service. Develop rotas and resource schedules, to ensure housekeeping team is always prepared to deliver outstanding service standards.
  • Ensure staff understand cleaning requirements of different surfaces and provide training as required to ensure that all areas are well presented and maintained.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance standards are met and adhered to. Implement safety standards and develop procedures to ensure compliance, where necessary and ensure general housekeeping procedures and training checklists are in place.
  • Identify and report damage, faults, and other related issues to the maintenance department (Facilities Management) to ensure upkeeping of premises.
  • Monitor Housekeeping inventories to ensure adequate standards are maintained, ensuring budget controls through effective stock management and well managed schedules. Maintain housekeeping budget effectively, providing billing summaries on a regular basis and coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure focus
    cost savings and quality products.
  • Co-ordinate purchase, supply of materials, equipment and services through liaising and negotiating with suppliers, and by ensuring the accurate reconciliation of goods and services against invoices.
  • In-depth knowledge of cleaning methods and operation of housekeeping equipment.

 

Butler & Service Duties:

  • Very high-end service experience (No exceptions).
  • Attend Formal Service & Train service staff.
  • Provide a courteous, attentive, and consistent service by responding promptly and efficiently to any requests or complaints.
  • Flower arrangements & decorative tasks.
  • Personal Assistant duties and diary management.
  • Overseeing Wardrobe maintenance, packing, and unpacking.
  • Care of F&B.
 

Accommodation

  • Separate self contained apartment is provided, which is located off site.

Eligibility

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Butler trained / holding UK Household Experience (Buckingham Palace / Ambassadorial Residences / Respected Town Houses or Country Estates etc).
  • Hands-On Household duties + House Management + Event Coordination and Staff Supervision & knowledge of Fine Dining.
  • an advanced understanding of Protocol & Etiquette.
  • a natural Eye-for-Detail along with problem-solving skills, and
  • 5+ years holding a similar role(s), in private home(s), so presenting a proven track record, and nice longevity.
  • Catering/Hospitality Qualifications would be a benefit.
  • Strong communication skills along with fluency in English / Native spoken English.
  • Technology proficient.
  • Candidates must present high ethical standards along with self-awareness and self-control.
